A coordinated enforcement operation in Geylang has resulted in 14 individuals being placed under investigation for a wide range of offences, including illegal gambling, vice activities, and drug-related crimes.
The operation, conducted over several days in March, involved officers from the Singapore Police Force alongside multiple government agencies. Those under investigation comprise 10 men and four women, aged between 27 and 67.
Authorities described the crackdown as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in areas known for higher-risk activities, particularly in nightlife districts.
Multiple Agencies Join Forces In Enforcement Sweep

The operation was led by Bedok Police Division and supported by several agencies, including the Criminal Investigation Department, Central Narcotics Bureau, Health Sciences Authority, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Singapore Customs, Land Transport Authority, and Singapore Food Agency.
This multi-agency approach reflects Singapore’s broader enforcement strategy, combining resources across departments to tackle complex and overlapping offences such as illegal gambling, unlicensed businesses, and drug-related activities.
Officials emphasised that such coordinated actions are necessary to address the interconnected nature of these crimes, which often operate within the same networks.
Arrests Made For Gambling, Vice And Drug-Related Offences

During one of the operations along Lorong 23, four men aged between 33 and 61 were arrested for suspected involvement in illegal online gambling activities. Officers seized cash and gambling-related paraphernalia as part of the raid.
Separately, enforcement teams uncovered illegal sales of unregistered health products, including cough syrups and sexual enhancement items valued at nearly S$5,000. A 27-year-old man is assisting with investigations for his suspected role in these activities.
Drug-related offences were also detected, with arrests made during checks conducted at several hotels in the area. In addition, a 39-year-old woman was arrested for suspected vice-related activities, while another man was detained for alleged links to unlawful societies.
Duty-Unpaid Cigarettes And Mobility Offences Detected
Enforcement operations also targeted the sale and possession of duty-unpaid cigarettes. Hundreds of sticks were seized, with multiple individuals issued penalties under customs regulations.
In a separate operation, officers from the Land Transport Authority identified several cases involving illegally modified personal mobility devices and power-assisted bicycles. Devices were impounded, and offenders are being investigated for breaches of active mobility laws.
These offences, while varied in nature, highlight the broad scope of the crackdown, which aimed to address both organised and opportunistic illegal activities.
Authorities Reiterate Zero-Tolerance Stance
Law enforcement agencies have reiterated that illegal activities in Geylang will not be tolerated. Police stated that firm action will continue to be taken against those who disregard the law.
The operation also serves as a reminder of the strict penalties imposed under Singapore law. Offences such as illegal gambling, handling duty-unpaid goods, and involvement in vice activities can carry heavy fines and imprisonment.
Members of the public are encouraged to report suspicious or unlawful activities, as authorities continue to step up enforcement to ensure public safety and maintain Singapore’s reputation as a secure and well-regulated city.
