According to the Health Science Authority(HSA), at least 10 e-vaporisers sellers were convicted in Court in the period from November 2021 to January 2022.
Total Fined over $100,000
The sellers that were convicted were between the ages of 19 and 36. The sellers purchased the vape from overseas and sold them illegally on various local social media and e-commerce platforms.
The total amount of illegal vape and components seized are worth over $30,000.
Telegram and other social media
Andy Yap Wen Rong, 22 years, advertised and sell e-vaporisers and related components on Telegram and Carousell. He smuggled the items from Malaysia.He was sentenced to a total fine of $35,000 on 25 November 2021.
Damien Tng Jia Kang, 26 years caught smuggling at Woodlands Checkpoint and got caught, fined $13,500.
Foreign Student, 23-year-old Chen Xin caught selling contraband cigarettes and vale on Whatsapp and Wechat. Fined $22,500 for vape and $9,500 for duty-unpaid cigarettes.
