Ten women have been arrested following a police raid at a massage parlour along MacPherson Road, where officers uncovered suspected syndicated vice activities.
The suspects, aged between 31 and 42, were taken into custody during the enforcement operation on 28 August. Authorities confirmed that the raid was part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on organised vice activities in Singapore.
In a statement, the police revealed that one of the women, aged 39, will be charged in court today (30 August) for allegedly operating the parlour as a brothel.
Possible Jail and Heavy Fines
Under the Women’s Charter 1961, anyone found guilty of profiting from the prostitution of another person may face up to seven years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to S$100,000.
Additionally, for her suspected role in helping to manage the brothel, the 39-year-old could face a separate penalty of up to five years in jail, a fine of S$100,000, or both. These punishments reflect Singapore’s strict stance on vice-related offences and organised crime.
The police have emphasised that investigations into the other arrested women are still ongoing, and further legal action may be taken depending on the findings.
Authorities Urge Public Vigilance
Vice activities in Singapore remain closely monitored, with enforcement agencies warning that those who attempt to operate such illicit businesses risk severe consequences. The police also reminded the public that information provided by residents plays an important role in curbing illegal operations in neighbourhoods.
The raid underscores Singapore’s zero-tolerance approach towards unlawful brothel management and vice syndicates, sending a strong message that offenders will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
