Vehicles Impounded During Enforcement Operation

According to LTA, the 11 drivers were caught providing illegal cross-border ride-hailing services, which are not permitted under Singapore’s regulations.

The authority said the vehicles involved were impounded during the enforcement operation.

LTA did not disclose when or where the operation took place.

With many Singaporeans expected to travel to Johor Bahru over the long weekend, LTA reminded commuters to only use licensed cross-border transport services.

Passengers are advised to either:

  • Book a licensed cross-border ride through Grab, or
  • Use a Singapore-registered cross-border taxi.

These services are permitted to pick up passengers anywhere in Singapore and drop them off in Johor Bahru, Iskandar Puteri, Forest City, Kulai and Senai.

Drivers Face Fines, Jail And Vehicle Forfeiture

LTA warned that drivers caught providing illegal ride-hailing services may face:

  • Fines of up to S$3,000.
  • Up to six months’ imprisonment.
  • Possible forfeiture of their vehicle.

The authority also encouraged members of the public to report suspected illegal ride-hailing activities to help keep commuters safe.
