Eyewitness accounts suggest that every segment of Bras Basah Road, from the Carlton Hotel to Hotel Rendezvous, was affected, leading to a substantial traffic jam that extended all the way to Orchard Road.
Images shared on social media platforms, including Facebook and Telegram, depicted the aftermath of the collision. One particularly striking photo showed a severely damaged black multi-purpose vehicle parked outside CHIJMES, with its front end crumpled and a dislodged tire. In contrast, a silver hatchback that was involved in the same collision appeared relatively unscathed.
Further along the road, a yellow ComfortDelGro taxi was seen with significant damage to its left side, including dented doors and a shattered rear window. Another vehicle, a black car near the junction with Victoria Road, had a caved-in front passenger door, while a grey multi-purpose vehicle was spotted mounted on the kerb outside the Singapore Management University.
Traffic Disruptions
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) first alerted drivers about the accident via X (formerly Twitter) at 9:48 AM, advising them to avoid the right lane. By 10:11 AM, the LTA expanded the warning to include the area up to Prinsep Street. The congestion caused by the accident persisted, with reports indicating that the wreckage was not cleared until approximately 1:45 PM.
Injuries Reported
The Singapore Civil Defence Force, alerted at 9:40 AM, confirmed that three individuals were injured in the incident. The victims included a 44-year-old male driver, a 49-year-old female passenger, and a 58-year-old male taxi driver. Two of the injured were taken to Raffles Hospital, while the third was transported to Singapore General Hospital. Fortunately, all three were reported to be conscious at the time of their transport.
