According to a media release, 12 individuals were accused of one of the biggest heists ever that involves the stealing of oil.
The individuals were paid bribes by former Shell employees amounting to US$213,000, Straits Times reported.
Background
The 12 individuals were surveyors are responsible for the inspection of the amount of oil that is loaded.
The 12 individuals accepted bribes amounts ranging from US$3,000 to US$90,000 each. 55-year-old Muhammad Ali Muhammad Nor used part of the bribes he received to purchase a BMW.
Juandi Pungot, Muzaffar Ali Khan Muhamad Akram and Richard Goh Chee Keong were ex-employees of shell who paid the bribes.
Juandi who formerly holds a role as an officer with Shell is also known as the mastermind of the heist who profited from the misappropriation of marine gas oil that was worth S$127.7 million
He was previously sentenced to jail for 29 years back in March 2022.

Corruption Penalties
If the individuals are found guilty of corruption they each can be jailed up to 5 years and fine up to $100,000.
