Florida/USA – A recent news of a boy losing his life after playing in a theme park has sparked debates across the United States about theme park safety issues and obesity of youth.
On March 24, a 14-year-old boy took a ride at Orlando ICON Park and fell 131 meters and died.
The maximum allowable weight for the FreeFall ride was 130kg and the boy was 24 kg over the safety weight limit.
The safety manual of the machine stated “Be careful when seeing if large guests fit into the seats. Check that they fit within the contours of the seat and that the bracket fits properly. If this is not so, do not let this person ride,”
However, this was not enough to stop the boy from losing his life, his father stated that the boy was often refused rides at theme parks due to his size standing at over 195cm and weighing over 154kg.
However, the operator of the machine allowed the boy to get on the FreeFall machine resulting in his death
A forensic investigator is investigating the deadly incident.
