A 16-month-old baby in Bandung, Indonesia; Muhammad Kenzi Alfaro, weighs 27kg and is so big that he has the same weight as an 8-year-old child, wearing sized XXXL diapers and can fit into his father’s clothes, according to The Daily Mail.
For context, the average weight of a 16-month-old baby is normally about 8.3kg to 13kg.
Kenzi weighed about 4kg when he was born, a bit larger than the average baby but he only ballooned in the last year, according to The Sun.
Liputan 6 reported that the baby could fit into his father’s clothes as well, and that toddler-sized clothes are too small for him; the baby has to resort to wearing 10-year-olds’ clothes in order to fit.
The child’s mother is also struggling to help her son sit upright and stand, and that he is so big that she can’t carry him, according to a video on Newsflare.
The parents also can’t find a stroller that can withstand his weight, and he can’t walk or talk or crawl like other babys around his age, according to Detik.com.
The mother said that Kenzi started gaining weight abnormally when he was about 6-months old, gaining 1-2kg in a week.
She said that she feeds him formula milk which the baby consumes 4 times a day, as well as sweetened condensed milk.
The family is poor and can only afford diluted sweetened condensed milk.
The baby weighted 26.9kg during a health check up in December last year, and stood at 75cm tall in height – the child was then referred to the Ananda Babelan Hospital.
The baby’s situation has also caught the attention of the minister of health, who has ordered medical officials to monitor the baby and provide treatment to him.
