Update: The death toll has since risen to 21 as of 17 December, 1.50pm.
A landslide took place at a campsite in Genting Highlands, killing 16 people with another 17 people still missing – 3 Singaporeans were rescued and are currently safe.
The landslide resulted in debris falling onto a campsite in the wee hours of 16 December.
The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department said that they received a call for help at the scene on Friday at about 2.24am.
The landslide had reportedly hit Father Organic Farm, a campsite near Genting Highlands, which offers educational tours on the farming of organic vegetables.
The debris that fell on the site was about 30 metres and about 0.4 hectares, according to ChannelNewsAsia.
Among the dead includes a 5-year-old child, and about 400 responders from across several agencies were deployed, and at the time of writing, search and rescue efforts are still going on.
