16 WOMEN ARRESTED IN ANTI-VICE OPERATION AT MASSAGE, RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL UNITS

According to the Police media release, a total of 35 men and women, aged 25 to 82, for various offences following a series of enforcement operations conducted across five days between 25 to 29 May 2022.

The operation was conducted by Tanglin Police Division gainst massage establishment outlets and vice activities.

Illegal Gambling and Vice at Balestier

In the operation against illegal gambling along Balestier Road and Toa Payoh Lorong 4, 16 men and three women were investigated for offences under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1961 and Betting Act 1960.

More than $6,000 in cash and gambling-related paraphernalia were seized.

The arrest of eight female subjects for offences under the Women’s Charter 1961 in an unlicensed massage establishment along Balestier Road.

Massage – Upp Thomson and Mackenzie Road

Seven commercial units and two private residential units were raided, resulting in the detection of five unlicensed massage establishments. A total of 16 women were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter 1961.

Public Entertainment, Foreign Manpower Act, Customs and Fire Safety

In another operation against public entertainment outlets, two outlets along Koek Road and Cuscaden Road were found to have committed breaches under the Public Entertainment Act 1958, while one outlet along Koek Road was found to have committed an offence under the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020.

A joint enforcement operation with the Ministry of Manpower, Urban Redevelopment Authority, Singapore Customs and the Singapore Civil Defence Force, was also carried out at a unit along Grange Road, where 26 occupants were found to be residing in the unit.

The respective agencies have commenced investigations into breaches under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act 1990, the Planning Act 1998, the Fire Safety Act 1993, as well as the Customs Act 1960.
