Singapore, 30 May 2025 – A 16-year-old boy has been taken into custody following a shocking incident at a coffee shop in Bedok North, where he was filmed violently assaulting a teenage girl during a heated argument.
The altercation occurred on the afternoon of Monday, May 26, at Block 418 Bedok North Avenue 2. Bystanders captured the incident on video, which was subsequently shared on TikTok, quickly gaining widespread attention. The footage reveals the boy, who was wearing a motorcycle helmet, engaged in a heated exchange with the girl before he forcefully pushed her to the ground, kicked her while she was down, and pulled her hair.
Despite the alarming nature of the incident, none of the three other individuals present, including another teenage couple, intervened to help the girl.
In a follow-up video, the same boy was seen seizing the girl’s phone and smashing it, while she remained on the ground. The situation escalated to the point where at least four police officers arrived at the scene to address the disturbance.
According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), the 16-year-old female victim sustained minor injuries but chose not to seek medical treatment. The male suspect has been arrested for criminal intimidation and is also cooperating with investigations regarding charges of voluntarily causing hurt and mischief.
This incident has reignited discussions online about youth violence and the troubling trend of bystander inaction, with many voices calling for enhanced intervention strategies and education on healthy relationship dynamics among young people.
The investigation into the matter is ongoing, as authorities work to address the implications of this incident and prevent future occurrences.
