LTA said in a Facebook statement that 14 PABs and 3 PMDs that were illegally modified, were seized in operations conducted at Geylang Road.
LTA’s statement
Illegal modifications compromise device safety, posing safety risks such as a higher chance of fire to the users, their families and other members of public. #SafetyFirst
Besides carrying regular enforcement action against users, we take an equally strong stance against irresponsible retailers who sell illegally-modified devices and put others at risk.
Last week, our enforcement officers conducted one such operation against an active mobility device retailer located along Geylang Road.
We seized 14 PABs and 3 PMDs that were illegally-modified. Investigation into offences such as displaying and offering non-compliant PABs and PMDs for sale is ongoing.
Ensuring public safety is our top priority and we will not hesitate to take enforcement action against those who endanger others through their irresponsible actions and behaviours.
#Reminder If you’re thinking to purchase a PAB or PMD, do ensure that it is compliant and registered. #SafeRidesHappyRides
