A 17-year-old boy in Toda, Japan, trespassed into a junior high school and stabbed one of the teachers repeatedly, before being arrested for attempted murder.
The high school student from Saitama trespassed into the school but he didn’t graduate from there, and he also didn’t know the teacher (whom he stabbed) at all.
He also confessed to murdering and dismembering at least 5 cats.
What happened?
Kyodo News reported that the 17-year-old boy, who hails from Saitama, allegedly trespassed into the Misasa Junior High School in Toda City on 1 March.
The 60-year-old teacher was invigilating an exam for the first-year students when he noticed the boy, who had trespassed into the school through a back door and made his way to a classroom on the 3rd floor with at least 3 knives with him.
The teacher confronted the intruder but ended up being stabbed multiple times, suffering injuries to his arms, torso and abdomen, but he ended up surviving the stabbing.
A witness who saw the whole thing unfolding said that she later saw the boy being taken away by the teachers on either side of him, while the police were alerted to the incident at about 12.25pm, according to The Japan Times.
The boy reportedly admitted to starving the teacher and told the police that he “wanted to kill somebody” and that it “didn’t matter who” it was.
The students were evacuated onto the schoolyard and none of them was injured.
The education board will also be sending counsellors to provide psychological care to the students and instructing schools to take security measures after the incident, including checking the people entering/leaving the school grounds.
The gates at the school premises will also be closed while lessons are ongoing.
Killed & dismembered cats
The Japanese police later revealed that the boy is also being investigated for multiple cases of cat dismemberment, with the boy hinting to the police that he was the one responsible for murdering at least 5 cats in Saitama.
Mutilated parts of dead cats were found across Saitama since the middle of last month, including body parts on a park bench and hanging from a playground at an elementary school.
A headless cat was also found buried halfway in a field, as well as the upper part of a cat’s body about 300 metres away from the area where the headless cat was found.
