SINGAPORE – A sweeping island-wide enforcement push has placed 1,771 individuals under investigation following weeks of coordinated action by the authorities, underscoring the Republic’s tough stance on crime and public safety during the busy year-end period.
The group under probe comprises 1,161 men and 610 women, ranging in age from as young as 15 to as old as 88. They are being looked into for a broad range of alleged offences after a series of large-scale operations carried out across Singapore. The actions form part of sustained law enforcement efforts to curb illegal activities that tend to rise during festive seasons.
Authorities emphasised that the operations were designed not only to apprehend offenders, but also to deter would-be lawbreakers. By maintaining a visible presence across neighbourhoods, entertainment areas and transport routes, enforcement agencies aimed to reinforce public confidence and community safety.
The scale of the operations highlights the resources Singapore continues to commit to maintaining law and order, particularly at a time when increased travel, social gatherings and commercial activity can create opportunities for crime.
ISLAND-WIDE OPERATIONS INVOLVING MULTIPLE AGENCIES

More than 4,500 officers were mobilised from across the seven Police Land Divisions, alongside the Criminal Investigation Department and the Traffic Police. These teams worked closely with partner agencies including the Central Narcotics Bureau, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Singapore Civil Defence Force, Health Sciences Authority, Ministry of Manpower and Singapore Customs.
Together, they carried out over 1,400 operations targeting a wide spectrum of offences. These ranged from traffic violations and e-vaporiser-related offences to cases involving duty-unpaid cigarettes, immigration infringements, illegal employment and suspected drug-related activities. Such joint operations reflect Singapore’s whole-of-government approach to enforcement, particularly in areas with implications for public health, border security and workplace compliance.
In total, checks were conducted on more than 15,900 individuals during the operation period. These checks led to 546 arrests, with many cases now proceeding through the investigation and prosecution process. Financial penalties, jail terms and other legal consequences may follow, depending on the outcomes of ongoing inquiries.
ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS AND STRONG WARNING

Investigations into the remaining 1,771 individuals are still underway, and authorities have indicated that further enforcement action may be taken as evidence is reviewed. The police reiterated that those found guilty of breaking the law will be dealt with firmly, in accordance with Singapore’s strict legal framework.
The authorities also reminded the public that compliance with regulations — from immigration rules and employment laws to traffic and customs requirements — is essential for maintaining a safe and orderly society. Residents and businesses are encouraged to stay informed about legal obligations, particularly in areas such as workplace compliance, consumer safety and transport regulations.
As Singapore continues to balance economic activity with public safety, such large-scale enforcement exercises serve as a clear signal: unlawful behaviour, regardless of scale or sector, will not be tolerated.
