On July 12, a tragic accident occurred in Yishun, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old male cyclist. The collision took place at about 5.55pm in the evening and involved a bus and a cyclist at the junction of Yishun Avenue 2 and Yishun Ring Road.
Despite the efforts of the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) paramedics, the cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fatal accident
The collision between the bus and the cyclist took place at the junction of Yishun Avenue 2 and Yishun Ring Road. The police were alerted to the incident at 5:55 pm on July 12.
Tragically, the 18-year-old male cyclist sustained fatal injuries. Despite the prompt response by SCDF paramedics, they were unable to save his life.
Following the accident, a 37-year-old male bus driver was arrested by the police for careless driving causing death and investigations are currently ongoing.

A mangled bicycle was seen lying in the middle of the road beside where the cyclist’s body was lying.
Umbrellas, tents, and blue cloth were utilized to shield the scene from public view and aid in the investigation process. One photograph captured the victim lying on the road behind the bus, highlighting the severity of the incident.
Another image showed paramedics attending to a man, believed to be the bus driver, further emphasizing the impact of the accident on both parties involved.
