18 Y.O THREATENS TO KILL PARENTS FOR MONEY TO BUY POKEMON CARDS

An 18-year-old was sentenced to 27 months of probation man after he poured oil on his father and followed by punching and kicking him. He even threatened to kill his parents.

18-year-old Ling Zhi Xuan faces 9 charges including theft, violations under the Women’s Charter, Harassment, assault, criminal intimidation and others. Ling pleaded guilty in court.

Ling’s parents who are in their mid-50s and the mother even pleaded leniency and said that they will reeducate their son.

What happen?

On November 25, 2020, the defendant who was sleeping was woke up by some noise and he punched the glass panel of a photocopier and even pushed his father.

On April 10, 2021, The defendant demanded extra pocket money from his father and he was rejected. The defendant then poured cooking oil on his father and when his father tried to stop him he was punched and kicked causing a two-centimetre laceration on his father’s forehead which required stitches afterwards.

On April 14, Ling demanded $100 from his mother to buy Pokemon cards and threatened his mother to give him the money or he will hit her. The mother who was afraid that she will be hurt said that she will call the Police, Ling responded: “If you call the police now, I will kill you and jump off the building”.

The mother who is worried contacted the Police the next day and the parents have since given a protection order against their son.

Punishment

The parents had to submit an SGD$5,000 security deposit to ensure that the son will behave in the time of his probation and he is also required to perform 100 hours of community service.
