The Singapore Police conducted two operations earlier this month and 19 people are being investigated for alleged illegal gambling and unlawful employment.
Two men aged 77 and 78 were found during a raid in Yishun Avenue 5 on 4 December for alleged bookmaking, as well as four other men between the ages of 56 and 88 who allegedly placed bets with them – they are all under investigations.
More than $1,400 in cash were seized, including a mobile phone and betting equipment.
The Police and CNB then conducted a joint enforcement operation on 15 December at Toh Crescent in Loyang where 21 people were found allegedly mingling in a unit.
One woman allegedly provided companionship services and a poker table, pool table and karaoke system were found at the scene.
9 men and 4 women between the ages of 17 and 35 were arrested for gambling-related offences as well as offended under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act – equipment used for gambling was also seized.
