19 WOMEN ARRESTED AT GEYLANG FOR KKJ SERVICES, HAPPY ENDING BECOME SAD ENDING

25 PERSONS ARRESTED FOR THEIR SUSPECTED INVOLVEMENT IN VICE-RELATED ACTIVITIES

The Police have arrested 23 women and two men, aged between 18 and 38, for their suspected involvement in vice-related activities.

On 7 March 2023, Police conducted a raid in the vicinity of South Bridge Road and arrested four women and a 31-year-old man for their suspected involvement in vice-related activities. Through further investigations, the identity of another 32-year-old man was established and he was arrested on 15 March 2023. 19 more women were arrested in the vicinity of Geylang Lorong 12 for their suspected involvement in vice-related activities. The 32-year-old man will be charged on 17 March 2023 and remanded for further investigations.

Vice syndicates have leveraged technology to facilitate their operations and extend their reach, with increasing sophistication in their modus operandi, by running their business remotely, often from overseas. The Police will spare no effort to clamp down and take tough enforcement action on vice activities.

Under the Women’s Charter 1961, any person who, in the course of business, uses a remote communication service with a Singapore link to offer or facilitate the provision by a woman or girl to another person of explicit services in Singapore in return for payment or reward, shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $100,000, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years, or both. Where the person is a repeat offender, he will be liable on conviction, to a fine not exceeding $150,000, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding seven years, or both.

Under the same Act, any person who knowingly lives wholly or in part on the earnings of the prostitution of a woman or girl shall be guilty of an offence and shall be punished on conviction with imprisonment for a term not exceeding seven years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $100,000. Where the person is a repeat offender, he shall be liable on conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 10 years and shall also be liable to a fine not exceeding $150,000.
