According to the media release, A 19-year-old young mother was slapped with a 24 months probations and 80 hours of community service for her involvement in cheating cases.
Nur Atiena Mohamed Asidi, 19, was involved in 5 cheating cases which involved a total sum of $580. She had imposed as a Carousell seller selling face mask. When her victims show their interest in purchasing the product, she will inform them that the mask will be delivered on a later date and collect a deposit from the victims.
In one occasion, she had even asked her victim to transfer money to another online seller for her own purchase. She had explained that the money she obtained from cheating was largely used to buy milk powder and diapers for her infant daughter.
The Judge had ordered her to go through counselling.
According to the law, anyone convicted of cheating may be jailed for up to 10 years and fine.
