2 BANGLADESHI MEN ALLEGEDLY RAPED WOMAN @ TUAS, CHARGED IN COURT

Two Bangladeshi men; Ahmed Rayhan, 30-years-old; and Alam Foysal, 36-years-old, were charged in court on 10 March for allegedly raping a woman at Tuas.

The two accused appeared in court via a video feed, and they are being accused of raping a 32-year-old woman in the early hours of 8 March.

The victim cannot be named due to a court order protecting her identity.

The Singapore Police Force said that they were alerted on Tuesday at about 7.25am that a woman was found injured but conscious along Pioneer Road.

The victim was found will multiple injuries on her head and body when the police officers arrived, and she was subsequently conveyed to the hospital.

A medical examination found that the woman might have been assaulted.

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Police Intelligence Department, Public Transport Security Command and Jurong Police Division activated their officers to commence investigations into the case.

The two men were identified by the police with the aid of police cameras and CCTV, and they were arrested within 12 hours of the incident being reported to the police.

According to the police’s preliminary investigations, the two men were not known to the victim.

The two Bangladeshis’ cases have been adjourned to 17 March, and they will be remanded at the Central Police Division.

Upon conviction of rape, they face a jail term of up to 20 years each, as well as a fine or caning.
