A family of three was taken to the hospital after reportedly consuming food from a Haidilao outlet located in Punggol’s Northshore Plaza, according to an article by the Straits Times.
The Singapore Food Agency, Ministry of Health, and National Environment Agency have since launched a joint investigation into the matter, following a report received on March 20 regarding the family’s illness.
Two individuals that were hospitalised are children
According to the report, the family fell ill after eating at the Haidilao outlet on March 10, with two of the individuals believed to be children.
Haidilao’s spokesperson confirmed that the family had visited the outlet for lunch on that date and had provided the authorities with information regarding the meal, including food products, test reports, and security footage.
The outlet had served 220 tables on March 10, with the family of three being the only group to report falling ill.
The spokesperson added that internal quality inspectors conduct daily food safety inspections, and third-party professional agencies disinfect and sterilize the premises every two weeks.
At present, the outlet remains operational while awaiting the results of the inspection. Haidilao, a popular Chinese hotpot chain, has 20 outlets in Singapore since its first opened in 2012.
With over 1,300 outlets in China and around 100 others worldwide, the chain is renowned for its exceptional customer service.
Customers waiting for their tables are treated to free manicures and snacks, and staff entertain diners with songs and dances for special occasions such as birthdays.
