A mother’s 2-month old baby reportedly died after the nanny that she had hired let the baby sleep on her stomach and didn’t check up on her.
The incident happened in Malaysia
The mother of the deceased, Chermain Tho, shared on Facebook on 4 June that he hired the nanny, who allegedly has experience working in a daycare, about 5 days ago.
Slept facing down
The nanny had let the baby sleep facing down, saying that this would let the baby sleep longer and more peacefully.
She then picked up the baby after her sleep and the baby the coughed before her body went soft, and she then brought the baby to a clinic.
The nanny then called Ms Tho and told her that her baby’s face had turned pale and asked for her permission to bring her to the hospital.
Tho said that the nanny should’ve capitalised on the “golden window of opportunity” and straight away brought her baby daughter to the hospital.
The baby died from asphyxia half an hour upon arriving at the hospital.
Police report lodged
Tho then deduced that the nanny wasn’t by the baby’s side or didn’t pay attention to her, resulting in the incident.
The nany apologised for what happened, and when Tho’s husband asked her for her identification card, the nanny allegedly said that she didn’t have it.
She also didn’t allow her photo to be taken, arguing that it would ruin her career prospects; she also hasn’t contacted them since or offer any compensation to the bereaved family.
A police report was also lodged by the family, as the mother said goodbye to her late daughter in the Facebook post.
