The Police have arrested two men and one woman, aged between 25 and 36, for their suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft with common intention.
On 19 July 2022 at about 4.20 am, the Police were alerted to a residential unit located along Treasure Island being broken into. Four liquor bottles amounting to $30,000 were purportedly stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from CCTVs, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identities of the two men and one woman and arrested them within five hours of the report. Police investigations are ongoing.
The offence of housebreaking and theft with common intention under Section 451 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment of up to 10 years and a fine.
Here is what the Police advise for crime prevention
- Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grilles and closed-shackle padlocks when leaving your premises unattended;
- Refrain from keeping large sums of cash on any premises;
- Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or CCTVs, to cover the access points to your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
