The Singapore Police Force has successfully apprehended two individuals, aged 44 and 34, in connection with a case of theft. The arrests come after a swift and diligent investigation into an incident reported on 3 September 2023.
At approximately 9:35 AM on that day, the Police received a report of a theft that occurred along Chander Road.
According to preliminary investigations, the victim had been asleep at the location when he was suddenly awakened by an unknown individual attempting to steal his handphone and a sum of $30 in cash.
The thief allegedly passed the stolen items to an accomplice before both individuals made a hasty exit from the scene.
The breakthrough in this case came through meticulous ground enquiries and the invaluable assistance of images captured by Police cameras and CCTV footage.
Officers from the Central Police Division worked tirelessly to identify the culprits, leading to the subsequent arrest of the two suspects on 14 September 2023.
During the apprehension, the stolen handphone was successfully recovered and confiscated as a crucial piece of evidence in the ongoing investigation.
Further inquiries have revealed that the arrested men are believed to be connected to additional cases of theft.

TWO MEN ARRESTED FOR THEFT
The Police have arrested two men, aged 44 and 34, for their suspected involvement in a case of theft.
On 3 September 2023 at about 9.35am, the Police received a report of a theft along Chander Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had been sleeping at the said location when he was awakened by an unknown man purportedly stealing his handphone and cash amounting to $30. The man then allegedly handed the items over to another man before they both left the location.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras and CCTVs, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the men, aged 44 and 34 respectively, and arrested them on 14 September 2023. The handphone was recovered and seized as case exhibit.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men are believed to be involved in other cases of theft.
The men will be charged in court on 16 September 2023 with theft with common intention under Section 379 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to three years, a fine, or both.
The Police have zero tolerance towards such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
