Major Drug Bust: Two Men Arrested, S$692,000 Worth of Drugs Seized
In a significant operation conducted by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) on Tuesday, June 4, two men were arrested, and an estimated S$692,000 worth of drugs was seized. The operation, which took place in a multi-storey carpark near Choa Chu Kang Street 41, resulted in the confiscation of a substantial amount of illegal substances, including cannabis, methamphetamine, ketamine, Ecstasy, and LSD stamps.
The CNB officers intercepted a car and arrested the 38-year-old driver and his 27-year-old passenger, both Singaporeans. A search of the vehicle revealed a staggering amount of drugs, including 4.5kg of cannabis, 968g of methamphetamine, 63g of ketamine, 1,180 Erimin-5 tablets, about 1.1kg of Ecstasy, and 181 LSD stamps. An additional 50 Erimin-5 tablets were found in a nearby riser.

The operation was not without incident, as two CNB officers were injured during the arrest. The suspects resisted arrest violently, causing lacerations on the officers’ arms. The officers received outpatient treatment for their injuries.
The seized drugs are estimated to be enough to feed the addiction of about 1,200 abusers for a week. Deputy Assistant Commissioner Aaron Tang, CNB’s director of intelligence, condemned the actions of drug traffickers, stating that they “only care about making profits and will stop at nothing to get it – even if it means causing harm to our society and inflicting injuries on CNB officers.” He emphasized that the incident will not deter the CNB from working to disrupt drug activities, but rather strengthen their resolve to combat the issue.
Investigations into the drug activities of the arrested suspects are ongoing. If found guilty of trafficking more than 250g of methamphetamine or 500g of cannabis, they may face the mandatory death penalty.
