Two people broke their legs after a lift that they were in, stalled and dropped from the 8th floor to the ground floor.
The incident happened last Friday (14 October) at a condominium in Lengkok Thamby Abdullah, Brickfields in Kuala Lumpur.
6 people, including a 2-year-old girl were trapped inside the lift at the time when it plunged into the ground floor.
The Hang Tuah Fire and Rescue station deployed 11 firefighters to rescue the victims after being alerted of the incident at 9.52pm, according to Bernama.
A man and woman broke their legs in the incident.
The Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said in a statement on 15 October that the rescue operation ended at 11.35pm.
They added that they are still investigating the cause of the incident.
A resident who lives in the building, said that this was the first time something like this had happened in the building since the 1970s, according to the New Straits Times.
She added that the lift would get stuck occasionally, but this incident was shocking as they didn’t expect something like this to happen.
The resident added that they have always paid the monthly maintenance fees on time and the incident seemed like it stemmed from a lift inspection failure.
