
2 woman has been investigated by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) after posting social media post accusing the court of biased treatment based on the race of the accused. These social media post was made in relation to the Orchard Tower murder that happened last year.
After the social media post emerged, the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) has since asked the police to investigate such social media users.
On 16 Oct 2020, the AGC has denied the claim that the court had imposed the sentence based on the race of the accused. The AGC added that it will not hesitate to take action against those who made false claims.
It is said that such a social media post has potential in disrupting racial harmony in the country which might cause irreversible division in the communities.
