
The police said in a media statement on Wednesday (25 Aug) that officers from the Jurong Police Division conducted a raid on a commercial unit at Bukit Batok Crescent at 11.45pm.
11 women and 10 men, aged between 29 and 67 were found allegedly gambling and breaking safe distancing measures.
Two who were arrested from the group were a 42 y.o woman and a 39 y.o man and are suspected for using the unit as a common gaming house.
10 other women and 9 other men are being investigated for gaming in a common house.
Case exhibits seized by the police include a Mahjong set and decks of cards.
Investigations are still ongoing.
If found guilty of using a place as a common gaming house, the penalties are a fine between S$5,000 and S$50,000 and jail for up to three years.
For gaming in a common house, the penalties are a fine up to S$5,000 or imprisonment up to six months, or both.
