21 Y.O ARRESTED AFTER SLASHING ANOTHER MAN AT BOAT QUAY

According to the Police media release, a 21-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by a dangerous weapon.

On 17 July 2022 at 2.10 AM, the Police responded to a fight at Circular Road, where a man had attacked another with a knife.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a 37-year-old man was involved in a dispute with a 21-year-old man, the 21-year-old man had slashed the 37-year-old and escaped the scene.

The 37-year-old man was conveyed conscious to the hospital.

According to Straits Times, a knife was seized.

Through extensive ground inquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Central Police Division and Criminal Investigation Department established the identity of the 21-year-old man and arrested him within 12 hours of the reported offence.

A 19-year-old man was also subsequently arrested for allegedly harbouring the 21-year-old attacked.

Both man will be charged in court tomorrow. (July 19)

Penalties:

The offence of voluntarily causing grievous hurt by a dangerous weapon punishable under Section 326 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to fifteen years, and shall be liable to a fine or caning.

The offence of harbouring an offender carries an imprisonment term of up to one-fourth of the longest term of imprisonment provided for the predicate offence, or a fine, or with both.
