A 21-year-old man was arrested for stealing a gold chain from a pawn shop somewhere along Geylang Road on 3 February.
The police received a report about the incident at about 5.49pm and the alleged perpetrator was swiftly arrested within 5 hours of the police report being lodged.
He was charged in court on 4 February with theft in dwelling, under Section 380 of the Penal Code 1871.

MAN ARRESTED FOR THEFT IN DWELLING WITHIN FIVE HOURS
The Police have arrested a 21-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft in dwelling.
On 3 February 2023 at about 5.49pm, the Police received a report that a gold chain was stolen from a pawnshop along Geylang Road.
Through ground enquiries and swift follow-up action, officers from Bedok Police Division arrested the man within five hours of the report. The gold chain was also recovered.
The man will be charged in court on 4 February 2023 with theft in dwelling under Section 380 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence of theft in dwelling carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years and a fine.
