In a heartbreaking turn of events, a young Malaysian couple’s joyous beginning took a tragic turn when they were involved in a fatal traffic collision, just one day after exchanging vows.
The incident, which occurred on December 17, left the husband dead and the wife injured, casting a shadow over what should have been a blissful start to their married life.
The Fateful Journey
The newlyweds, Norsyam Nasullah Rahum, 23, and Aini Hayati Mohd Radzi, 22, were on their way back to Sungai Besar, Selangor, after returning their rented wedding costume at a boutique in Kuala Lumpur when tragedy struck, according to The New Straits Times.
Around 10 pm at Tanjong Karang, Selangor, the couple’s Perodua Bezza collided with two other vehicles, a Nissan Almera, and a Honda City. The collision proved fatal for Norsyam Nasullah Rahum, who lost his life in the tragic accident.
Aini Hayati Mohd Radzi, although surviving the collision, suffered a broken left leg and injuries to her chin. The abrupt end to their newlywed bliss left her in pain and mourning.
Details of the Collision
According to a preliminary report by the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, the collision involved the Perodua Bezza, Nissan Almera, and Honda City. The Perodua Bezza, driven by Norsyam Nasullah Rahum, is believed to have lost control, causing the tragic sequence of events.
The driver of the Honda City, a woman in her 30s, sustained a broken right leg. The driver of the Nissan Almera, a man in his 50s, suffered minor injuries. Superintendent Ramli Kasa, Kuala Selangor District Police Chief, stated that the Perodua Bezza was dragged for about 11 meters, resulting in severe injuries to Norsyam Nasullah Rahum, leading to his untimely death.
Family’s Shock and Sorrow
Harian Metro reported that the couple had just celebrated their wedding the day before the incident at Dewan Seri Bernam, a Civic center in Sungai Besar. Muhd Aiman, Aini’s brother, received the devastating news while on his way home to Kajang and rushed to Tanjong Karang Hospital.
Muhd Aiman, describing Norsyam Nasullah Rahum as shy yet kind and friendly, expressed the family’s profound grief. The burial is set to take place in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, as the family navigates the difficult process of bidding farewell to a beloved family member.
Investigation Underway
The case is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987, as authorities work to piece together the events leading to the tragic collision.
