Muhammad Farhan Abdullah, a 24-year-old man, pleaded guilty on 19 October to a disturbing incident of wrongful restraint and molestation that occurred on February 1st earlier this year,
The victim, a 36-year-old woman, cannot be named because of a court order protecting her identity.
He is now awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for November 16.
What happened
According to TODAY, Farhan’s path first crossed with the woman at a wet market in Serangoon on 1 February earlier this year. He was attracted to the 36-year-old woman and followed her back to her HDB block, where he waited for the lift with her.
Upon entering the lift, the victim pressed the button to go to the 5th floor and asked Farhan which floor he was going.
Farhan said he was going to the 12th floor and the victim then pressed the 12th floor as the doors closed, taking them up the block.
As the lift was going up, Farhan then grabbed the victim and pushed her against the wall as she tried to turn around and flee, but he continued trying to restrain the woman by holding her arms and limbs from around her shoulders.
After restraining her, he attempted to kiss her on her neck and face, as well as touched her chest and telling her that it “felt good”.
The victim then tried to free herself but Farhan warned her that he will kill her if she shouts, adding that he has a knife.
He didn’t actually have a knife but wanted to scare the woman into complying with him.
Upon reaching the 5th floor, the woman tried to escape from the lift but Farhan pulled her back in, only letting her go after she shouted for help.
Her husband then called the police shortly after and Farhan was then arrested later that day.
