26 PEOPLE SENT TO HOSPITAL AFTER HUGE CHAIN COLLISION INVOLVING 3 LORRIES @ KJE

Oon 18th July, a chain collision occurred on the Kranji Expressway (KJE) in Singapore, which involved three lorries, two of which were carrying migrant workers.

As a result of the collision, 26 people were sent to the hospital, although most of them suffered only minor injuries.

Among the injured were two lorries that were ferrying migrant workers at the time.

The chain collision happened at around 7:08 am on the KJE, specifically towards the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) after the Choa Chu Kang Avenue exit, according to Shin Min Daily News.

Photos of the accident site depicted a scene of significant damage, and one of the lorries was particularly affected, with a cracked windscreen and severe front-end damage.

Among the lorries involved in the accident, two were carrying migrant workers at the time of the accident. These workers experienced varying degrees of injuries, with most of them, fortunately, sustaining minor harm. However, one worker required oxygen assistance, while others were lying down, waiting for medical attention from paramedics.

Additionally, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) also had to extract two people who were trapped in the front seat of one of the lorries. The rescue operation was carried out using hydraulic tools to extricate the victims, according to 8world News.

After the accident, 26 people were taken to three different hospitals for treatment and observation. The hospitals that received the injured individuals included Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, where 12 people were conveyed, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, which received six people, and National University Hospital, where eight individuals were admitted.

The chain collision on the KJE resulted in traffic congestion, causing delays and inconvenience to other road users. The traffic jams stretched all the way to the Sungei Tengah exit, adding further challenges to the situation.
