A 27-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a couple of snatch thefts from two female victims between 16 to 21 December.
The Singapore Police Force received two reports of snatch thefts from the two female victims, who had their phones snatched by a man near Corporation Drive in Jurong.
The suspect’s identity was established by officers from Jurong Police Division through the use of police and CCTV cameras and he was then arrested on 22 December.
He was charged earlier today in court (24 December) with the offence of snatch theft, and if convicted, he faces a jail term of between 1 to 7 years and caning.
The Singapore Police Force warned against these “brazen acts of crime” and said that they will spare no effort to apprehend those who break the law and deal with them accordingly.
