In a devastating incident along the southbound Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) during this morning’s peak period, a fatal accident unfolded, leaving the community in shock and mourning.
Dashcam footage captured the heart-wrenching moment when a motorcyclist collided with a red Renault hatchback, leading to a sequence of events that resulted in the tragic loss of a 27-year-old man’s life.
According to Shin Min Daily News, the expressway was relatively slippery at the time of the accident.
The Unfolding Tragedy
The dashcam footage depicted the red Renault hatchback traveling along the middle lane of the BKE seemingly without issue.
However, the routine drive took a harrowing turn when the vehicle came to an abrupt stop along the expressway. In a matter of seconds, a motorcyclist collided with the stationary car, leading to a cascade of events that would change lives forever.
As the first motorcyclist fell onto the road following the collision with the red Renault, another motorcycle, engaged in lane-splitting, appeared to run over the fallen rider’s head.
The impact sent the second motorcycle airborne, further escalating the severity of the incident. The aftermath of the collisions left both riders on the ground, with one motionless and the other losing balance and skidding along the slippery expressway.
Emergency Response and Hospital Conveyance
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) swiftly responded to the distress call, arriving at the scene around 8:10 am on Wednesday.
Paramedics conveyed two individuals, identified as 27 and 29 years old, to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital. Tragically, the 27-year-old man, in an unconscious state, succumbed to his injuries, marking a somber turn of events.
Investigations into the accident are currently underway.
