29 Y.O ARMED WITH HAMMER FOR HOUSEBREAKING, ARRESTED BY POLICE

A 29-year-old man has been detained for his alleged participation in an attempted housebreaking on Serangoon Road.

The Police received a complaint that the glass display case of a store along Serangoon Road had been smashed on 5 October 2021 at approximately 8.50 a.m. There were no lost items reported.

Officers from the Central Police Division identified the suspect and detained him within six hours of the report being filed after conducting ground investigations and using pictures from police cameras. As case evidence (Top photo), a set of gloves and a hammer were confiscated.

The man will be charged in court on 7 October 2021 with attempted housebreaking under Section 451, read with Section 511 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.
