3 ARRESTED AFTER FIGHT BROKE OUT @ CITY HALL, USED MICROPHONE & KARAMBIT KNIFE AS WEAPONS

Two 16-year-old teenagers and a 25-year-old man have been arrested by the Singapore Police Force for allegedly being involved in a case of rioting with deadly weapons on 24 September at a club along Coleman Street.

The Violent Confrontation

On September 24, 2023 at about 3.17pm, the Singapore Police Force received a distressing call regarding a violent confrontation involving weapons at a club located along Coleman Street.

Upon their prompt arrival at the scene, police officers were met with a grim sight. Two individuals, both men aged 29 and 43, were found injured and in need of medical attention.

Initial findings revealed that these two victims had been embroiled in a dispute with another group of men, which eventually escalated into a violent altercation.

What makes this incident even more distressing is the choice of weapons used during the confrontation.

One of the assailants had reportedly wielded a karambit knife, a menacing weapon known for its deadly capabilities.

Meanwhile, another individual involved in the fight had used a seemingly unconventional weapon—a microphone.

Identifying the Culprits

Through a combination of follow-up investigations and the assistance of images captured by police cameras, officers from the Central Police Division successfully identified the three individuals involved in the violent encounter. Subsequently, arrests were made on September 26, 2023.

As part of the investigation process, a karambit knife and a microphone were recovered and seized as vital case exhibits.

Legal Consequences

The 25-year-old man and one of the 16-year-old teenagers are slated to be charged in court on September 26, 2023, with the offense of rioting armed with deadly weapons. This charge carries a penalty of up to 10 years’ imprisonment and caning, highlighting the gravity of their actions.
