
According to a media release, three men including two lawyers were charged today (10 Sept) after allegedly trying to tip-off a contraband cigarette syndicate to clear their goods in their premises. Apparently, the client of the two lawyers had approached them for assistance to alert his syndicate to clear their premises.
According to the court documents, the lawyer’s client allegedly had given them information about an ongoing investigation conducted by the Singapore Customs. The client allegedly asked the lawyers for their assistance to alert a syndicate dealing with contraband cigarettes to clear their premises.
Eventually, the two lawyers allegedly assisted their client to forward his message to a man in the syndicate.
All three men were charged with attempting to obstruct justice. If convicted, they could face a jail term for up to seven years, fine or both.
