Three men have been sentenced to jail after a 50-year-old man was attacked following an altercation at a Singapore nightclub in 2025.
The victim, who did not know the three men, had been offered a beer while they were drinking at GG KTV Nite Club.
After accepting the drink, he poured it away, prompting the group to assault him, according to court documents.
Attack began inside nightclub
The incident took place at about 6pm on Jul. 30, 2025, when Toh Soon Heng, 63, was drinking with Cheng Chee Hiong, Wee Keng Mong James and several other friends.
The group encountered the victim after he emerged from the toilet. One of the men offered him a beer, which he accepted before pouring it away.
The group then began attacking him.
About 30 seconds after the assault started, Toh and Wee left the KTV room and joined in the attack.
Wee picked up a packet of tissue paper and struck the victim once on the head, while Cheng and Toh repeatedly punched and kicked him.
Victim tried to escape
The victim eventually managed to leave the nightclub and ran towards a nearby restaurant.
However, the confrontation continued outside.
Wee kicked the victim once in the back, causing him to stumble forwards. When the victim reached the restaurant, Cheng threw a large coconut in his direction, although it missed him.
Toh then punched the victim once in the face.
According to court documents, the victim did not retaliate during the altercation, which took place both inside the nightclub and near the restaurant.
The victim was subsequently taken to Changi General Hospital for treatment.
Three men sentenced to jail
The victim suffered multiple injuries, particularly around his face and head, and was given a 34-day medical certificate.
Prosecutors described the incident as a prolonged and one-sided group assault that was fuelled by alcohol and resulted in moderate harm to the victim.
Toh pleaded guilty on Sep. 16, 2026, to one count of voluntarily causing hurt. He was sentenced to eight weeks’ jail.
Cheng was previously sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, while Wee received a six-week jail sentence.
The sentences bring the court proceedings against all three men to a conclusion following the assault at the nightclub.
