Netizens Stunned as One Man Allegedly Moves Nearly 3 Tonnes of Vapes in a Day in Singapore

Singapore – Singaporeans were left shocked and speechless after learning that a single individual was allegedly responsible for moving almost three tonnes of illegal vapes within just one day — a volume so massive that it raised eyebrows across social media and prompted questions about how deep the black market for vaping runs.

According to The Straits Times, the suspect, 21-year-old Malaysian national Chong Jun Keong, is now facing two charges under the Tobacco (Control of Advertisements and Sale) Act after he reportedly distributed a staggering 2,915kg of e-vaporisers across two industrial locations in Singapore on July 11.

Netizens React to Massive Haul: “One Man Can Move So Much?”

Online forums and social media channels lit up with disbelief after the news broke. Many were stunned that one person alone could be linked to such a large volume of vape distribution, calling it “unthinkable” and “like something from a crime drama.”

“Wah, 3 tonnes? That’s not personal use already — that’s factory-level logistics,” one Redditor commented. Another netizen wrote on Facebook, “How is it possible for one guy to move that much? Where is he storing it all? How many customers must he have?”

Others questioned how such a large operation could slip through the cracks, given Singapore’s strict laws on controlled substances and tobacco-related products.

154 Bags in a Day, Two Locations

Based on court documents, Chong had allegedly distributed 103 bags of vapes — weighing nearly 1,966kg — at Jalan Pemimpin in Bishan around 1.40pm. Then, by 4.20pm that same day, he was said to have moved another 51 bags at an industrial site along Ubi Avenue 3, amounting to another 948kg.

All in, the combined load was heavier than an MPV — and reportedly done in a span of just under three hours.
