Is it me or does SG feels more and more….Dystopian?

at 30 with a pay of 5k, I can’t see myself being able to afford a house after paying for expenditures and parents for allowance.
How do other people make it? As a single, it seems like a dreary grind until death. It is dystopian how most of my friends seem to welcome death jokingly often too.
I know most would say ‘get a hobby’. am trying for that because most hobbies are just costly in sg. looking to get into a physical hobby that is healthy.

Lots of physical activity are free or very low cost tbh, running, swimming, cycling etc.
Have you even seen decathlon? Lots of sports equipment for sale on a decent price.
Not to mention our nationally funded ActiveSG - I dunno why are people complaining with 5k salary as a single. I only got around 3k plus married with bto. Just spend within your limits? I still set aside money for gaming and hobbies though.
- You need new and better friends. Friends who don’t indulge you in your doomer mindset. Yes yes, we are all on this earth for a few decades and then we’ll all die anyway – so why not choose to make the best of our time here instead of rolling over and dying inwardly years and years before we actually hit the grave for feal?
Seriously if you think owning a home brings happiness or is a milestone that you’ve made it in life – I feel very sad for you.
Life has so much to offer, and while having money certainly opens up more avenues, if it is the showstopper to your happiness, it simply means you’re not looking hard enough. So many wonderful experinces in life don’t cost even a single cent. Maybe the first step out of this is to accept and be grateful for what you do have, instead of indulging in frustrating fantasies and illusions about what you don’t/could have.
