32 Y.O ARRESTED FOR CHEATING, SELLING MOBILE PHONE WITH “INSTALLMENT”

According to a Police media release, a 32-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in a series of cheating cases.

On 6 July 2021, the Police received a report from a victim saying that an online seller had cheated him. The seller had allegedly offered to sell the victim a mobile phone under an instalment plan. After the first instalment payment was made by the victim, the sellers goes missing in action

Officers from Woodlands Police Division was able to identify the suspect after investigations.The man was subsequently arrest on 7 July 2021. Preliminary investigations revealed that this is not an isolated incident as the man is believed to be involved in at least three other cheating cases.

The man will be charged in court on 9 July 2021 with cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to 10 years and a fine.
