32-year-old Vickreman Harvey Chettiar, was charged on 5 May with harassment and mischief after allegedly posting online calling for the death of President Halimah Yacob, according to The Straits Times.
He had allegedly posted on Instagram on 30 April 2023 at about 7am from a HDB unit in Choa Chu Kang, saying in his pot that President Halimah should be hanged from a lamppost near the Parliament House.
At the time of the incident, Vickreman was already facing three charges for mischief and harassment and was out on a bail of $10,000.
As such, Deputy Public Prosecutor Shaun Lim requested for his bail to be revoked because he might have breached his bail conditions, citing his latest charge of harassment in relation to the threatening post against the President.
DPP Lim also requested that Vickreman be remanded at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) because his behaviour was escalating.
Vickreman’s lawyer, Joyce Khoo, said that she had no objection to her client being sent to IMH, and requestions for the prosecution to contact the IMH investigating officer to afford special care to Vickreman because he had a traumatic experience during his earlier remand there back in 2014.
A website “Justice4Harvey” had made the claims that Vickreman was allegedly raped at IMH in 2014 by another man.
The court accepted the prosecution’s request to remand Vickreman at IMH for a medical examination, and his case has been adjourned to 19 May.
If convicted of harassment and mischief, he faces a jail term of up to 1 year and a fine of up to $5,000.
Vickreman is also being charged with allegedly publishing the address of a man in an Instagram Story that he posted on 18 November 2021, accusing him of molestation while in remand at IMH back in 2014, and allegedly asking for him to be assaulted.
He is also being charged with allegedly calling for a terrorist act to be performed on a police officer in an Instagram Story post on 15 November 2021.
Vickreman is also facing a charge for allegedly flipping over a marble table at the Supreme Court with about $308 on 3 February 2020 at about 11.16 am, breaking it in the process.
