In a recent enforcement operation, the Singapore Police Force has apprehended a 32-year-old man suspected of being involved in the online sale of counterfeit goods. The arrest was made on 13 July 2023 in Jurong West Central, following an investigation by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department.
During the operation, law enforcement officers seized an astounding cache of more than 3,300 items, including perfumes, footwear, and beauty products. These goods were believed to infringe upon various trademarks, and their estimated street value surpassed an astonishing $244,000. The seized items will now undergo further scrutiny as part of the ongoing police investigations.
Under the Trade Marks Act 1998, the possession of goods with falsely applied trademarks for the purpose of trade constitutes a serious offence. Offenders found guilty of this crime could face severe penalties, including fines of up to $100,000, a maximum prison term of five years, or both.

The Police have arrested a 32-year-old man for his suspected involvement in the online sale of counterfeit goods.
On 13 July 2023, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department conducted an enforcement operation at Jurong West Central, resulting in the arrest. During the operation, more than 3,300 pieces of purported trademark-infringing goods comprising perfumes, footwear, and beauty products, with an estimated street value of more than $244,000 were seized. Police investigations are ongoing.
Under the Trade Marks Act 1998, the offence of possession of goods with falsely applied trademarks for the purpose of trade carries a fine up to $100,000, an imprisonment term of up to five years, or both.
The Police take a serious view of intellectual property rights infringement and would like to remind the public that the distribution and sale of counterfeit goods are serious offences. The Police will not hesitate to take tough action against perpetrators who profit at the expense of legitimate businesses and consumers.
