34 Y.O SNATCH HANDBAG IN TECK WHYE, CHARGED IN COURT

The Police previously arrested a 34-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of snatch theft cases at Teck Whye Avenue.

On 18 June 2022 at about 8.40pm, the Police were alerted to a case of snatch theft where a handbag was snatched from the victims.

Just two weeks after the incident, the Police received a report of a handphone getting snatched by an unknown man.

Through extensive ground enquiries, follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division, Police Operations Command Centre, Police Transport Security Command (TransCom) and Criminal Investigation Department established the identity of the man and arrested him on 1 July 2022.

The man has been charged in court on Saturday (July 2) June 2022 for the offence of snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and caning.

The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
