
According to a media release, a 34-year-old man was arrested for his suspected involvement in loanshark harassment.
The police were alerted on the 03 Jun 2020, an HBD unit located at Punggol Drive has been locked with a padlock with a debtor note attached.
After investigation, the accuse was identified and put under arrest on the 11 Jun 2020. Initial investigation revealed that the man was involved in multiple loan shark harassment activities. He is investigated for breaching safe distancing measures as well.
The accuse was charged in court today (Jun 13), accordance with the Moneylenders Act 2010 anyone convicted of loanshark harassment could face a fine between $5,000 to $50,000, jailed up to 5 years and 6 strokes of the cane.
