SINGAPORE — A 35-year-old man has been arrested following a heated confrontation at an arcade in the west of Singapore, after a dispute that drew public attention and prompted police intervention.
The incident occurred at a Timezone outlet located within Jurong Point, one of the busiest suburban malls serving residents in the Jurong area. According to eyewitness footage circulating online, the altercation took place in the evening, at around 7pm, when crowds were still present at the mall.
In the video, the man — dressed in blue and wearing fingerless gloves — appeared to be engaged in a tense argument with two other individuals dressed in black. A woman with long hair was also seen standing close by, adding to the uncertainty surrounding what exactly had triggered the confrontation.
Witnesses described the situation as chaotic, with raised voices and aggressive gestures, though the exact exchange could not be clearly heard due to surrounding noise.
ESCALATION AT ARCADE DRAWS ATTENTION
The person who posted the video said:
“happened at jurong point timezone arnd 7pm on 25 april
the guy sitting on the chair behind the first machine ALLEGEDLY sexually harassed the girl at wangan terminal then when confronted say “i never do anythingg whattt”
got big crowd at timezone entrance coz police arrived.”
The dispute reportedly took place near an arcade machine believed to be “Wangan Midnight”, a popular Japanese street racing game often found in entertainment outlets across Singapore. Social media captions accompanying the footage alleged that the man had earlier been involved in an altercation with the woman at the gaming booth.
However, when confronted, the man reportedly denied any wrongdoing, further escalating tensions between those present. At one point, he was seen gesturing with an object in his hand while continuing the argument, drawing the attention of bystanders nearby.
The situation quickly became disruptive, with members of the public observing the confrontation unfold in a confined entertainment space typically frequented by families and young people. Concerns over safety and public order likely contributed to the decision to alert authorities.
Police were subsequently called to the scene to manage the situation.
POLICE RESPONSE AND ONGOING INVESTIGATIONS
In response to queries, the Singapore Police Force confirmed that they received a call for assistance at approximately 7:15pm at the Jurong West Central address linked to the mall.
The 35-year-old man was arrested for public nuisance. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the confrontation, including whether any additional offences may have been committed.
Public nuisance in Singapore can encompass a range of behaviours that disrupt public peace or safety, particularly in crowded environments such as shopping centres and entertainment venues. Offenders may face fines or other legal consequences depending on the severity of the case.
The incident highlights how quickly disputes in public spaces can escalate, especially in high-traffic locations where emotions, misunderstandings, and crowded conditions can combine to create volatile situations.
