On April 2, 2024, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) conducted an operation targeting drug activities carried out using chat applications such as Telegram. The operation resulted in the arrest of 36 suspected drug offenders and the seizure of drugs worth approximately $19,000.
During the operation, a 32-year-old female suspected drug trafficker was arrested in her residential unit in Compassvale Drive, and about 123g of cannabis and various drug paraphernalia were recovered from her bedroom.
In another case, a 26-year-old male suspected drug trafficker was arrested in his residential unit in Bedok North Street 3, and about 107g of cannabis and various drug paraphernalia were recovered.
CNB Director of Intelligence, DAC Aaron Tang, warned that the bureau will not be deterred from carrying out enforcement action against drug offenders who use chat applications such as Telegram to carry out their activities.
Under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1973, it is an offence to traffic in a controlled drug, offer to traffic in a controlled drug, or do any act preparatory to or for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug. Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing.

Types of drugs seized
The operation resulted in the seizure of about 333g of cannabis, 13g of ‘Ice’, 5g of ketamine, a gramme of heroin, 42 Erimin-5 tablets, two ‘Ecstasy’ tablets, and 65 vaping devices suspected to contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). In addition, various drug paraphernalia were also recovered from the arrested suspects.

A search of her bedroom recovered about 123g of cannabis and various drug paraphernalia. In another case, a 26-year-old male suspected drug trafficker was arrested within his residential unit located in the vicinity of Bedok North Street 3. About 107g of cannabis and various drug paraphernalia were recovered from within the unit.
The CNB’s operation is a reminder that drug activities carried out using chat applications such as Telegram will not go unnoticed. The bureau will continue to monitor and take enforcement action against such activities to protect the community from the harmful effects of drugs. Investigations into the drug activities of all arrested suspects are ongoing.
