This applies to even some adults, some will always be the mother’s child no matter how old they are.

A man shared on social media stating:

I’m 38 with two kids my mum still call me ni ji dian hui lai (What time are you coming home?).

This statement attracted the comments of many people and they had similar sentiments stating that it is a blessing to have someone who greatly care about you.

A netizen shared:

My curfew is not curfew. My curfew is a phone call which my mom will yell “where are you? Coming back soon or not?”

It differs la from family to family but to me if u trust ur child, then why not. As long as they pickup your call when they are outside and inform you where they are going without you even asking, why bother with a curfew if they are proactive in making sure you are informed about their whereabouts?

I have friends that still have curfew at 19 which to some might be normal and it kinds of make them a burden to hangout with and sometimes alienates them lorh. For example if we want to go Macs at 2am or watch a late night movie. The ones that can hangout late won’t consider them as first picks.

One of the commentators is right, if a child wants to do bad things they won’t wait until after midnight. My friend that has a 10pm curfew, picked up smoking at 16. I’ve asked him about this and he said, he feels the need to go against his parents authority as they set unreasonable limits. When presented the opportunity to go out, he would make the most out of it by trying out “new” things hence the smoking.

It all boils down to whether or not you trust your child that they can be responsible for themselves when they are outside.

Conclusion:

Does a curfew actually work?
