On Friday, May 10, 2024, at approximately 8.30 am, a confrontation involving four youths carrying weapons occurred at Block 304A Anchorvale Link, Sengkang. The incident ended with all four individuals being arrested by the police.
According to a report by Shin Min Daily News, the incident took place in front of the HDB block, drawing the attention of nearby residents. Upon arrival at the scene, reporters observed at least four police cars and seven or eight police officers present. Three of the youths, who appeared to be in their teens, were seated on the ground, being questioned by the police. A fourth youth was seen sitting alone on a nearby staircase, with a police officer standing beside him.
A resident, Mr. Ma (70, retired), shared that he noticed the commotion when he returned to the HDB area in the morning. He saw police cars with sirens rushing past. The youths were reportedly making a lot of noise and causing a disturbance, but no physical conflict had erupted. Instead, they were engaging in a heated verbal confrontation, with onlookers gathering around.
The Singapore Police Force has since confirmed the incident. According to their statement, they received a report at 8.50 am regarding the incident. A 18-year-old male was arrested for possessing an offensive weapon, a 16-year-old male was arrested for criminal intimidation, and two other males, aged 13 and 15, were arrested for being an accessory to the possession of an offensive weapon. The case is still under investigation.
This incident highlights the importance of responsible behavior and the consequences of engaging in confrontational activities with makeshift weapons. The authorities take a serious stance against such behavior and will take appropriate action to maintain public safety and order.
